Bionic Eye

This week’s new item is a cybernetic eye, small accessory to boost looks of an avatar.

After a break that took longer than it was supposed to (you know how these things always go…), a new item has been created and set for sale. Zodiac board is beautiful board that shows zodiac ring and location of sun and moon on it. I have one set up as a wall decoration at Blorkus store, but one could use it as a floor or desk decoration too.

Summer is time to fish and while fishing you might find interesting stuff. Iron Bird and SHD are participating the hunt and have both made exclusive prizes. The one from Iron Bird is summer goggles that will protect your eyes. SHD has made Honey Frog.

The hunt goes on from July 1st to July 31st. In this hunt, you have to fish up your prizes (and landmark to the next location) with the 7Seas Fishing system.

Thynian Disks

From my latest expedition I brought set of obsidian disks with me. All of them have strange diagrams in them and some has unknown lettering in addition. One of them I recognize as a blueprint of a mechanical planetarium and two are clearly diagrams of solar system. Meaning of the rest I can not guess and the whole thing is complete mystery to me. I decided to call them to Thynian Disks, according to the jungle where I discovered them.

These disks are now available for people interested in peculiar items and strange mysteries. I have them set up in my workshop as a decoration and believe that they would work very well in ruins setting too.

Available as singe disks or pack of seven. Since they are copyable and modifiable, you can have as many as you want, in various sizes.

There are often hunts going on in Second Life, they are different sized, differently themed and so on. The common thing is of course items that you can gather while exploring and trying to find small hidden trinkets.

Currently there is The Bunny Hop going on. A bit over 300 eggs are waiting to be discovered, each containing present and landmark to the next location. Some searching is required, but quite many of them are easy to find. The biggest problem I had was that some sims are so packed full of people that I just didn’t fit in anymore After trying couple of times, I always got in though, so no big worries there.

Another hunt, a bit smaller, but infinitely more interesting for me is Spring is The Air. On this hunt, I will not only be hunting, but also giving out. Yes, I’m actually participating this, and I’m super excited about it. Just couple more days until the hunt starts, so stay tuned and get ready to hunt. The planetarium I’m handing out is custom job and can only be gotten from the hunt. As soon as the hunt is over, there will be no further possibility to get it.

Great news to all of those who enjoy 7Seas fishing. Iron Bird and .:SHD:. have opened a fishing area with some custom fish. The area is located at sim called Missing Beckett.

Antikythera Necklace

Antikythera Necklace is miniaturised Antikythera Device that you can hang around your neck as a fashionable decorative piece. On top of just looking really neat, it tracks locations of sun, moon and planets and shows current phase of the moon.

Small Heliocentric Model

This small heliocentric model is my latest item in astronomy category. It displays motion of earth and moon around the sun in real-time. If that is too slow (granted, full orbit of earth takes one whole year after all), it can be run in accelerated mode where one year takes just a little over one hour.

I stumbled upon a really great looking sim today called Verdigris. Whole place is themed and build very well and the place is worth exploring a bit. I landed at a street high above the ground level, but quickly found my way down to the village (well, gravity gave me some help of course).  The thing that really caught my eye though was the clock tower with star map. Unfortunately it looked that the device had stopped and was not showing correct time anymore. There are some images after the cut, but I recommend to pay a visit there to see more.

Antikythera Mechanism

Antikythera mechanism has been puzzling scientist and historians since it’s discovery in 1901. Mechanism has been dated to 150–100 BC and technological artifacts of similar complexity did not reappear until a thousand years later. It looks like that the mechanism was able to track planetary positions and keep track of different kinds of calendar systems. And all this with mechanical gears.

Have a look at wikipedia article for more information on this fascinating subject. I have been captivated by the idea of somebody solving all those complex calculations and capturing them into mechanical shape. And all of it without being able to use telescopes or space ships.

I created a similar device that keeps track of sun, moon and five planets on their journey through zodiac ring. It also displays the current phase of the moon. Device has short user instructions engraved on the inner surface of the cover and stylised geocentric solar system on the front cover. As usual, the main store has demo model for people to have a look at before purchasing.
